When I went into the AHS Sunnyslope location, I was only "looking" at dogs, wasn't planning on adopting one. But the moment I saw Marley, my plan was history! He had four siblings with him, two brothers and two sisters. They all looked the same and were absolutely adorable! There was no way for me to pick out of the five of them, so I stuck my hand out to each of them and Marley was the ONLY pup that didn't bite my finger, instead he licked it. I knew he was my boy from that moment! He is the light of my life and I am so blessed to have him such a huge part of it- literally! He's spoiled, just ask my Husband. I can't imagine life without Marley and I cherish all the days I have with him. Marley rules our house and I can't thank the AHS for all they do. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! And yes, he was named after the movie Marley and Me. I got him the same time the movie came out in theaters, but he was already named that by the AHS.

My husband and I saw an ad online for an adorable short haired tabby kitten named Max on the AZHS website, so we decided to drive all the way from Gold Canyon to the Dobbins facility in Phoenix to see him.
Max must have had telepathy, because when we went to see the kittens in one of the kitten rooms, he immediately ran right up to the window to great us! Max was abandoned by his kitty mother when he was a young kitten, and he required fostering in order to get him strong enough to make it to adoption. Now, over a year later, Max feels like he owns our house. He definitely keeps the rest of our senior citizen animals young despite their best efforts to ignore him. And between him and our 4 year old daughter, I don't know who gets into more trouble; sometimes they're in cahoots with one another. Max is a riot! He also has the patience of a saint when it comes to our daughter. He'll let her dress him and carry him around. It's funny! I thank you all at AZHS and to your foster parents for all that you do. Without you guys, we wouldn't have the wonderful family member that we have now. Max is a blessing.

Misha & Kami are Best Friends Forever. I always tell people I feel like I adopted Kami for Misha. Kami is Misha's kitty. They're constantly sleeping together like in the picture. I love showing people this pic, showing how 'mean' & 'troubled' pit bulls are. They want love, just like every other dog out there!

I went down to the shelter after my separation and it was just me and my young son at home. Although I had my son with me, I felt lonely and needed a friend. I saw this handsome young doggie with the saddest eyes and I had to have him! I was worried because he was a Pit bull and I had a young child. So I sat with him a while feeling him out the we went to a room together and spent some more time starting out slow I began doing to him what I thought my son might do trying to make him mad to see his reaction. He was so sweet. I took him home now he is the most wonderful pet I have. Every night he cuddles up in bed with my son. Thank you for my boy we LOVE him so much!

When I adopted Pica from the Campus for Compassion shelter, she was a shy timid little girl who had been found on the streets with her litter. She was so skinny and spent most of the first two weeks hiding under the couch. Fast forward a year-now she rules the house! She filled in a bit, has a shiny soft coat and I can't imagine life without her. She cuddles my feet at night and rushes to greet me when I get home from work. She even likes hanging out on the balcony and helping with my homework! If you are thinking of adopting, don't rule out the older pets who seem a bit shy-once they warm up a bit they must just be the companion you're looking for!

MESSAGE FROM JERSEY:
"To all my friends and family,
Thank you for rescuing me and then giving and sharing with me, my wonderful life. I knew from the moment I met my mom that I was going to experience love, friendship, adventure, challenge and happiness, but really didn't know just how much. You have all been so good to me...spoiled me actually...I got to visit places other dogs could not go, see things other dogs missed and ate a whole lot of people food (only while on vacation, per mom). I've been to the beach in CA and Mexico, I've been to the top of mountain peaks 14,000 ft high in Colorado, dogs parks all over, I've hiked the Slickrock in Moab and hiked miles upon miles all over the state. My mom even turned me into a running dog! I run about 4-6 miles with her! I have made lots of friends (people and animal alike).

A special thank you to our adoption counselor Ana and volunteer Peter for assisting us in our adoption of Winston. This weekend was a very exciting one for all of us, and went very well. Winston is a wonderful and beloved addition to our family.

I adopted a Husky Mix, Mika from one of your facilities back in 1998 and we loved her from the moment we took her 4 month old battered body to the end when I carried her into the vet for her last breadth February 14th, 2011. She was a free spirit, loving, wild princess and spectacularly beautiful. She spent most of her life in our home here in NH and loved the climate, hiking, running, causing mischief. I just wanted to thank everyone associated with the Arizona Humane Society from the bottom of heart for the work you do in giving us the opportunity to adopt a animal that affected our lives in such a beautiful way. And you do it every day. The early years were difficult but she became more than I can ever describe. Wow I loved her so and can't believe she is really gone.

I recently lost my family pet
a few months ago. I searched the AZ Humane Society and found Sadie to be
adorable. We were allowed to spend as much time as necessary for us to get to
know each other. Sadie was very shy but I knew she would open up. Sadie was
found as a stray and a previous adoption unfortunately did not work out for the
family and was returned to the Humane Society. Lucky for ME!!!! She is a very
affectionate and playful 1yr old female German Short Haired Pointer. She knows
how to sit, come, walks on a leash and is eager to learn new tricks and
commands. Although she is still freighted of strangers and new things she warms
up very quickly. In her short time in her new home Sadie has enjoyed taking
long walks in the park, meeting new dog friends, learning how to chase the ball
in the backyard, and just relax on the couch. I am very grateful Sadie came
into my life and thankful to the AZ Humane Society. It's a match made in
Heaven!!
