Our Executive Staff
Guy Collison has spent nearly 20 years managing and directing non-profit social service organizations in Phoenix prior to coming to the Arizona Humane Society. His role is to provide the organizational leadership necessary for AHS to fulfill its mission.
Collison was executive director of United Cerebral Palsy of Central Arizona for 17 years. During his tenure, the organization’s revenue increased from $740,000 to $9.5 million, including the elimination of $250,000 in debt, and program services grew from 26,000 hours a year to nearly 360,000.
Prior to his position at UCP, Collison spent nearly three years as executive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Phoenix, increasing revenues by 175 percent. Collison holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University and hails from Worthington, Ohio.
Guy shares his home with wife Wendy, two daughters, Waverly and Carlee and one cat, Sambuca. He tried his best to resist the urge to adopt more pets with the constant temptation here at the shelter, but Goldie and Cowgirl (pictured above) became a part of the Collison family in late 2009!
Dr. Nancy Bradley, Director of Medical Services
Dr. Bradley oversees all AHS medical services, including the Second Chance Animal Hospital™, shelter surgery clinic and our mobile and public spay/neuter and wellness clinics. Bradley is entering her
16th year practicing veterinary medicine. Prior to joining the AHS, she worked with Maricopa County Animal Care and Control Services.
She is a Phoenix native who attended Colorado State University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in veterinary science and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She also received a Master's Degree in non-profit management from Regis University in 2006. She is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and is on the Board of Directors for the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association.
She and her family share their home with four dogs, three cats, one horse and a goat.
Shannon Valenzuela, Director of Shelter Operations
Shannon Valenzuela oversees admissions, alternative placement, behavior, field operations, Second chance animal hospital and the public spay/neuter and wellness clinics. She is working toward a business degree, is wild land firefighter certified and has trained for disaster response and incident command with FEMA.
She and her husband, Rick, and daughter, Sierra, share their Phoenix home with two dogs – Biscuit and Gracie – and one cat – Merlin. Valenzuela proudly considers herself a foster failure in that she took in all of her pets as fosters and then decided to adopt them.
